The Naxals attacked a team of state police and ITBP jawans at Kohka village in Rajnandgaon district when they were on an area domination campaign. The police team retaliated the attack and in the resultant encounter, the girl who was passing by the site was injured after a bullet fired from Naxals side hit her, IG of Durg Range R K Vij said.
The girl was taken to hospital in Bhilai, he said.
ITBP jawans and police had undertaken an area domination campaign following the visit of ITBP DG Ranjeet Kumar Bhatia to the site where three ITBP personnel were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Naxals on Friday, he said.
The outlaws had blown up a jeep of ITBP men in Rajnandgaon district yesterday when they were returning from neighbouring Maharashtra.
