District collector Krishna Kunal said the accident occurred at Maharani Videh Kaur Girls' College in Bharatpur, 170 km east of Jaipur, on Saturday morning when a class was going on.
In the accident, Hemlata Mudgal (20), a first-year BA student, succumbed to injuries at the hospital. College owner Hari Ram Singh said the accident happened because of vibrations created by a bulldozer in motion in front of the institution.
Kunal said four of the injured women were critical and had been referred to the Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Jaipur, and the rest were admitted to the district government hospital. "The reason for the collapse so far is not clear and we are investigating the matter," he added.
