Girlie gumption!

india Updated: Jun 30, 2006 00:11 IST

THIS DAD was given no time to preach. His smart daughter had her mind set. Thursday afternoon, the onlookers at IT College crossing saw it all first hand.

A man and his daughter waved a tempo to stop. Even before the two could get in, a motorcycle came to a screeching halt nearby. The girl glanced at her father, turned away, got on to the bike and zoomed off with her boyfriend… well! Presumably!

The girl was an LLB First Year student who had visited the Lucknow University (LU) Kailash Hostel to obtain a ‘no-dues’ certificate. After the work was done, she had walked out with her father to the IT College crossing to go home.

The incident was the talk of the LU campus all of Thursday, with many initially fearing that the girl may have been abducted. But, others asserted that the girl must have left on her own since the father had not submitted any written complaint to the authorities.

When contacted, hostel provost Nalini Pandey said: “The girl came along with her father to obtain a ‘no dues’ certificate. Since the incident took place outside the hostel we can’t say much about it.”

Another LU teacher pointed out that though the “incident was shocking but, since the father had not filed a complaint, we are not in a position to proceed in this case”.

Pandey added that the hostel was closed for the summer vacations and the girl was not staying there.

Some twosome there!
