GIRLS’ TEAMS of St Joseph’s Co-ed School, St Francis School, Maharishi Centre for Educational Excellence (MCEE) and St Mary’s Convent School entered the semifinal of the basketball tournament being organised under the HT PACE Fiesta at Tatya Tope Stadium on Wednesday. The semifinals will be played on Thursday.
In the first low-scoring match, team of MCEE faced a tough fight from St Mary’s School. Both teams failed to convert shooting into the basket and MCEE won the match 9-8. Rita Verma and Somya Chaturevdi of MCEE scored four points each for the team.
The strong St Joseph’s Co-ed team maintained the rhythm on the second day. The aggressive strategy of the team made them winner against Sharda Vidya Mandir.
The brilliant fast game by Akansha Singh and Surbhi Jha gave the team one-sided 28-00 win. They scored 8 and 12 points respectively. St Joseph’s will take on MCEE in the semifinal. St Francis faced no resistance against Sharda Vidya Mandir as the former registered a comfortable 15-02 win against the latter. Rose Mary scored highest seven points from the winning
Team of St Mary’s was declared winner against the team of DMS, as the latter failed to reach the court within the stipulated time. St Francis School will take St Mary’s School in the semifinal. In the boys’ section, teams of ST Francis School, Model School, KV No. 1, KV Bairagarh, Sharda Vidya Mandir and St Joseph’s Co-ed School registered wins.
