GM domestic sales for May up 39%

General Motor India on Thursday reported a 39 per cent increase in domestic sales at 3,478 units in May this year as against 2503 units in the same month last year.
The company sold 1,625 units of Chevrolet Tavera and 403 units of the recently launched Chevrolet Aveo during the month.
Chevrolet brand grew by 57 per cent during the month and the company sold 3,478 vehicles under the brand name as compared to 2,229 vehicles sold during the same period in 2005, a company release said.
The company's manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat is undergoing a expansion. GM India plans to enhance its capacity to 85,000 units in the current fiscal, it said.
