How does walking help the skin and what should be the duration of the walk?
Walking improves blood circulation and that gives you the glow on your skin. Also, an increased oxygen intake translates into healthy skin. You can try walking about two kilometres in half an hour and gradually increase your pace. Please keep age and fitness in mind and also consult your doctor before increasing your pace or distance.
Can you please suggest a natural astringent and a remedy for open pores.
Cucumber juice works well as an astringent. You can also mix rose water with witch hazel in equal quantities. After washing, wipe the face with this astringent, using cotton wool, especially on areas with open pores. Mix oatmeal with egg white and apply it three times a week on open pores. Wash it off when dry.
How can I get a glowing skin and tone it too?
Tone the skin daily with chilled rose water. Using cotton wool pads, wipe the skin with it. Then, stroke the skin gently. Use outward and upward movements on the cheeks, ending each stroke at the temples. On the forehead, start from the centre and go outwards on each side, again ending at the temples. For the chin, use circular movements. Use a facial scrub twice a week. Take crushed sesame seeds or ground almonds, add curd and dried mint leaf powder. Or, add dried and powdered lemon and orange peels. Apply on the face and leave on for a few minutes. Then, rub gently, with small circular movements, washing off with water.
