Security has been stepped up in and around Goa airport following intelligence inputs about a possible terror threat.
"We received communication four days ago about a hijack threat issued by Al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Toiba, following which the airport has been put on high alert," airport officials said in Panaji on Saturday.
The airport at Dabolim in south Goa is manned by around 280 CISF personnel, they said adding that the parking space adjacent to the terminal building has been shifted outside airport premises.
Stringent scrutiny is being done for issuing visitors' passes, the officials said.
Goa has always been a possible target for terrorist attacks and the maximum number of domestic and foreign tourists visit the state in December/January, they added.
