Even as Jodhpur police said their investigations lent credence to the 16-year-old’s account of sexual assault by controversial godman Asaram, his son opened attack on the victim on Wednesday.
“The girl is mentally unstable,” Narayan Sai told his followers at Rajkot.
“She used to take around two-three hours to bathe. And even during recess while in Chhindwara gurukul in Madhya Pradesh, she took 45 minutes to get fresh.” Seeking a cure, her parents had brought her to Bapuji from Chhindwara to Jodhpur where he met her in their presence.
Sai, who has also been accused of sexual harassment (though no formal complaint has been filed), also raked up the conspiracy theory to defend his father. “There is a conspiracy to malign him in the media. There is no substance in the complaint.”
The son, also a godman, has his own ashram in north Gujarat and, like his father, is fond of luxurious lifestyle and travels by swanky cars and chopper.
Recently, he, along with a sadhvi, had a miraculous escape when a chopper carrying them crash landed in a cemetery in Ahmedabad.
Last week, he compared himself with Lord Krishna surrounded with gopis.
Meanwhile, the girl’s father has demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
Case lodged against Asaram spokesperson
Amritsar: A case was registered against Asaram’s spokesperson Neelam Dubey for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the first Sikh Guru, Nanak Dev, in Amritsar on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee (SGPC) filed a complaint that Dubey’s remarks had hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs, following which the Kotwali police registered the case.
The religious body also demanded an apology from the godman, who is facing rape charges. Dubey had made the alleged remarks during a discussion on a TV news channel.
