Gold to Ash: Aishwarya's many failed avatars at Cannes 2013

In a rare reversal of the Midas touch, every bit of gold this Bollywood superstar wore on the Cannes red carpet seemed to turn into ash. Pun intended.
Looking at her latest Cannes appearance in a heavily zari embellished dress that looks disturbingly like a tea cosy, one can safely suggest her a change of wardrobe without being judged for questioning the diva's fashion sense.

Another inexplicable dressing trend that all Indian women wearing desi clothes at Cannes seem to be following religiously is the suffocating full sleeved high neck.

Vidya Balan's love for matronly clothing has reached an all new level with her latest painfully ordinary red saree and grandma pearls. Ash too wore a stuffy black jacket and over-long pants ensemble for a Cannes photo-shoot.

Speaking of black, Ash never seems to let go of her favourite colour. From her black and (very) gold saree to her black and grey gown, Ash is definitely playing it safe.

The saree and the golden tiara, however, won the crown. But it doesn't stop at the tiara alone. The neck, the wrist-bands, the drape, everything was blindingly golden.
