IT giant Google declared a two-day holiday at its Hyderabad office after one of its employees was found to have contracted swine flu from another software engineer (not working in Google) who has just returned from Houston, US.

“We have declared two-day holiday from today (Tuesday) so as to enable all the employees working at the Hyderabad centre to undergo screening for swine flu,” a Google official said, not willing to reveal his name.

Google has about 1,000 employees at its Hyderabad centre located at the IT district of Madhapur on the city outskirts.

The company has advised its staff to contact the Andhra Pradesh Chest Hospital and get checked for flu-like symptoms.

Google sources refused to identify the employee who has contracted the disease.
It is learnt that the employee was one of the six techies who were infected by one software engineer who returned to city from Houston on July 5. He approached the chest hospital six days later with swine flu symptoms. By then he had spread the disease to five others. All six tested positive for swine flu.
