Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra hoisted the tricolour on the occasion of the 65th Republic Day at the state-level function at the Maulana Azad Stadium here.
The governor took the salute at the march past of the contingents of the army, Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and men and women contingents of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, Jammu and Kashmir police, State Disaster Response Force, Jammu and Kashmir prisons police, Jammu and Kashmir fire and emergency services, Jammu and Kashmir forest protection force, ex-servicemen, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Bharat Scouts and Guides, and schools students.
Chief minister Omar Abdullah, legislative assembly speaker Mubarak Gul, legislative council chairman Amrit Malhotra, ministers, advisor to the chief minister, vice-chairmen of various boards, legislators, chief justice and judges of the state high court; senior civil, police and army officers, political and social activists, prominent citizens, mediapersons and a large number of the citizenry were present on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme based on national integration and the heritage of the state was presented by the students.
Among other attractions, the programme included a tableau on 'Shiksha Mera Adhikar' by the Jammu directorate of school education, 'Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation' by Jammu deputy commissioner and 'Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram' by Jammu directorate of National Rural Health Mission.
