It's back to those Sarkailo
khatiya days for 44-year-old Govinda. Apparently he's going for the raunchy stuff with a vengeance ever since his virginal hero act clicked in Partner.
News is that he will play the title role in the remake of the Hollywood hit The 40 Year Old Virgin to be produced by Anuj Sharma. Jagmohan Mundra will direct the film. The skin flick specialist had of late gone straight with socially concerned movies like Bawandar and Provoked.
But Mundra, who has often aspired to hit Bollywood mainstream cinema, will get his chance to go the David Dhawan way.
Apparently ,Govinda suggested Mundra's name to Sharma. The actor believes that Mundra has an equity abroad. After Partner, he wants to make an impact in the overseas market.
"With Partner Govinda is once again a big draw with Indian audiences. But obviously that's no longer enough for him. Like the Khans, Shah Rukh, Salman and Saif, he now wants to be accepted by the NRIs too," informs our source.
It is learnt that when Govinda was shooting in London for Ravi Chopra's Pappu Paas ho Gaya, he met Mundra in London.
The idea of a remaking a film revolving around a 40-year-old virgin who gets into a relationship with a single mother of three with a no-sex pact, instantly appealed to Mundra. The film is expected to start early next year. A search for the leading lady is on.
