Govindpura teenager?s murder solved

india Updated: Oct 16, 2006 15:22 IST

TWO PERSONS were arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder of Shadab in Govindpura three days ago.  Salim alias Bablu, 36, a resident of Bijli Nagar and Guddu, 32, a resident of Jehangirabad, were  Shadab’s friends. Envious of Shadab’s relation with a teenage girl they planned to eliminate him by offering ‘gulab jamuns’ mixed with sedatives. They, later, strangulated him.

Police said the girl had eloped with Shadab, 17, a resident of Karod, on October 9.  Shadab kept her at Bablu’s house. Bablu a married man and his friend Guddu planned to eliminate Shadab and rape the girl.

On October 11, Bablu and Guddu both scrap-dealers, after selling junk bought gulab jamuns. They mixed sedatives in the ‘gulab jamun’ syrup and took Shadab for an outing in the City, which continued for hours.

They then took an exhausted Shadab to a deserted spot near Maida Mill road, offered him liquor and the ‘gulab jamuns’. When Shadab felt sleepy, they asked him to lie down on a roadside. When Shadab was asleep the duo strangulated him and slit his throat.

When they returned home, the girl inquired about Shadab and they said he had gone home. Later that night Bablu tried to molest her, but because of his wife’s presence in the house, he failed.

The next day Shadab’s parents along with the girl’s relatives recovered the girl and the hunt for Shadab was launched. Shadab’s body was recovered the next morning.

During interrogation the girl told the police the duo had told her and Shadab that they would kill a couple of their age group and disfigure their bodies, to give the impression that she and Shadab were killed, so that nobody would search for them.

As Shadab had kept the girl at Bablu’s house, police interrogated him. He confessed that he and Guddu, had committed the murder. Both Bablu and Guddu are history-sheeters and have been arrested for several crimes.
