The BJP on Saturday alleged that the UPA government was misusing the CBI to give clean chit to anti-Sikh riots accused and Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.
"CBI is now Congress Bureau of Investigation. It is used by the UPA for its benefit. It gave a clean chit to Mayawati when BSP supported it, then ditto for Mulayam Singh and now it is using the agency to give a clean chit to Tytler who is a Congress Lok Sabha poll candidate," party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters here today.
Congress is using CBI to further its political agenda, he added.
"The political use of CBI on the evening of the polls is a political conspiracy against the people of this country," Javadekar said.
The BJP reaction comes on a day when the CBI filed the final investigation report in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case allegedly involving former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler.
