Government is ready to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the Indo-US nuclear deal as part of addressing the concerns of its Left allies.

UPA sources said the offer for a discussion was made afresh in Monday's UPA-Left committee meeting.

The ruling alliance told Left parties that it was all for discussion on the nuclear deal but they have to ensure that the main oppositioin BJP did not derail the proceedings in Parliament.

Proceedings in the monsoon session were stalled for several days with BJP paralysing the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha demanding a Joint Paliamentary Committee into the nuclear issue.
