The state government has suspended a senior gymnastics coach for dereliction of duty, official sources here on Thursday said.

"The State Sports Council, an autonomous sports body, in an order issued on Wednesday placed gymnastics coach and in-charge KK Hakhu Stadium, SP Singh under suspension for allegedly remaining absent from duties unauthorisedly," the sources added.

They said the order read, "Pending enquiry into his conduct for remaining absent from duties from June 3, 2013, in an unauthorised manner, S P Singh, gymnastics coach (in-charge KK Hakhu Stadium) Jammu is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. The charge sheet will follow.

Sources said the suspended coach left the country and accompanied the Indian rhythmic gymnastics team to Tashkant in Russia without having proper permission from the parent organisation of State Sports Council.
