Govt to felicitate outstanding SC sportspersons

THE STATE Government will felicitate outstanding national players belonging to Scheduled Castes. The Scheduled Castes Welfare department has invited applications for this latest by January 20, 2007.

To encourage outstanding SC players the State Government has launched a scheme to organise sports and cultural/intellectual competitions from year 2006-07. State’s SC players who have participated in national level competitions will be awarded under the scheme with cash.

Such players may send their applications in prescribed format along with certificates though registered post latest by January 20,2007 to the office of the Commissioner, Scheduled Castes Development, Gandhi Bhavan, 35, Shyamla Hills, Bhopal.

Players who participated in individual national-level competitions will be given an award of Rs 4,000 while those who won gold medals will get Rs 21,000.  The silver medal winners will get Rs 15,000 and bronze medal winners Rs 11,000.

Inter-press cricket from Jan 25
THE TENTH inter-press cricket tournament will be organised at Old Campion Grounds from January 25. According to the Bhopal Sports Journalists Association (BSJA) press release, the last date to submit the entry form will be January 20. Four outstation teams have also been invited this year. Teams from print media, electronic media and news agencies are eligible to participate in the tournament.
