Grace marks to MBBS students

india Updated: Oct 18, 2006 18:37 IST

THE STANDING committee of Barkatullah University on Tuesday decided to provide five grace marks to MBBS students who have sought admission before the academic session 2006-07. As per the decision of the University Coordination Committee, students who were admitted from academic session 2006-07 onwards would not be given the benefit of grace marks.

The standing committee directive comes in the light of the State Government’s decision regarding grace marks following an order of the Jabalpur High Court. It may be recalled that students who appeared for MBBS exams of October/November 2004 were not given the benefit of five grace marks provided to preceding batches.

These students approached the High Court, which directed that the students already enrolled before the current session should get the benefit.

The standing committee also approved the constitution of inspection teams for colleges that have sought affiliation. Also the issue of increase of seats in some colleges and extension of affiliation to few others was also discussed.
