GRE examinees appearing for the revised test from August next year will be eligible for a 50 per cent discount on fee if they sit for the test before September 30, 2011. The regular fee for the GRE, a competitive entry-level test for admissions to international universities, is $160.
The revised GRE has several new features.
Test takers will face more questions on real-life scenarios and reading rather than vocabulary.
The new format allows examinees to skip questions and return to them later within a section, an on-screen calculator for the quantitative reasoning section and the possibility of providing more than one answer to a single question.
Those taking the test in August or September 2011 will receive their scores in November 2011.
From December, results will be available, as is the usual practice, within 10 to 15 days.
