Mehar Bhasin has been living out of a suitcase — anchoring TV shows, compering live shows, both in the country and abroad, grooming girls at The Meyhar Bhasin Academy of which she is the director, and once in a while, taking a well deserved break.

Now, the grooming expert in her will be teaching the contestants at the PC Jewellers Miss India Worldwide India 09, an HT City initiative. Calling the pageant her baby, she says that the best part about being a grooming expert is seeing a girl you have created become victorious. “Seeing Shagun Sarabhai win last year was so fulfilling, I am looking forward to seeing our girl win this year too.”

Mehar, who is currently involved with a show called Beautiful Hamesha on Home shop TV 18 will soon be compering an event for Tag Heur with Shah Rukh Khan. She adds that girls these days are a lot more pampered. “They stay in five stars, have the best photographers, the best one can get; we didn’t have that.”

Grooming the girls for the pageant, she says, will comprise everything — upgrading confidence level, improving vocal diction, even mind management. “How to interact with the media? How to face the camera? They learn everything.” Mehar says and points out that being seen at the right party with the right people is equally important. “If you aren’t seen on Pg 3 often, people will forget you,” she says.
