Guidelines issued to micro-observers for fair elections

The general election observer for Udhampur, Chenani and Ramnagar assembly constituencies, within Udhampur parliamentary constituency, Dr Ravi Shanker on Sunday gave instructions to the micro-observers and said that they have a crucial role for free and fair conduct of elections.

The election observer addressed 73 micro-observers and issued them guidelines by the Election Commission. The elections here will take place on April 17. Udhampur district election officer Yasha Mudgal and returning officers were also present on the occasion.

Exhorting upon the micro-observers, Shanker said that on the poll day, they must observe mock poll procedures, entry pass system and access to polling station, identification of electors in accordance with the guidelines, application of indelible ink, secrecy of voting, conduct of polling agents and their complaints, if any. In case of any complaint, the micro-observer shall immediately report to the election observers through any means of communication.

DEO urged them to reach the allocated polling stations at least one hour before commencement of the polls. She exhorted upon them to remain extra vigilant for the smooth conduct of the elections.
