Organisational elections in the state BJP have been completed upto ward and block levels while presidents for district will be appointed in a week, a top party official said.
After district presidents are appointed in all 26 districts, elections for the state level will be held and new office bearers would be appointed in the state setup, state BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja said.
"We have appointed presidents for wards in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Baroda, Bhavnagar and Junagadh and presidents of all the blocks. Subsequently, committees have also been constituted at ward and block levels," Jadeja said.
According to him, now the district presidents and general secretaries will be appointed in a week.
"Currently, process is underway to select president and general secretary for each district. Once the selection process is over for all the districts, names will be announced," Jadeja added.
After the district level, selection process will begin for the state level set up in within a month, new president for the state BJP is likely to be appointed.
Presently, there are a number of main contenders for the post like former energy and revenue minister Kaushik Patel, former agriculture minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, former urban development minister I K Jadeja and present chief whip in the assembly RC Faldu.
