Guj police file cases against fishermen strayed in Pak waters

The Gujarat police have registered cases against 6 fishermen who strayed into the Pakistani waters while fishing in the Arabian sea last Saturday prompting Pakistani marine to fire at the boat.

Police said, "they were fishing in the area located 180 kms away from the police station at Jakhau port for which they had no permission".

The Pakistani Marine Security Agency (PMSA) fired at the boat after it strayed into the Pakistani water which injured the captain and damaged the boat.

Captain of the boat Ranchhod Baraya Tandel received injuries on his hand and brought back the boat to the jetty at Jakhau port. The five other boatmen on the boat, were unhurt.

Baraiya has been shifted to the hospital at Rajkot for further treatment.

The case against 6 fishermen is registered under 188 of IPC and the relevant provisions of the Gujarat Matsya Udyog Act, Police said .

The other five fishermen were identified as Bhavesh U Bhabhliya, Shailesh Hari Bhodhra, V N Patir, C V Alasya and Satish D Alsya.
