The Gujarat government will set up a special high level jail for terrorists and hard core criminals in Gandhinagar district, said minister of state for home and prison Amit Shah.
Speaking in the assembly during the budgetary demands of the home department, Shah said that a special high security jail with a capacity to accommodate 200 prisoners will be built and location for the same will be identified soon.
He added that terrorists, hard core criminals and accused arrested under unlawful activities act will be kept in the high security jail.
According to Shah, the state government has also made financial provision in the budget and once location is identified and land is procured, the construction for the special jail will be undertaken immediately.
Shah also said in the house that the state home department has begun the process of large scale recruitment in order to fill the existing vacancies in the force.
Meanwhile, leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil said that a total of 18622 posts have been lying vacant in state's police force which suggests that the state government has failed to recruit on time.
