india Updated: Jun 01, 2008 00:54 IST

Agitated over the Rajasthan government's attitude towards the Gujjars in the state, hundreds of members of the community in Ludhiana on Saturday staged a dharna and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Shouting slogans against Raje, the protesters later presented a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Sumer Singh Gurjjar condemning the killings of Gujjars in police firing at various places in Rajasthan.

They also demanded dismissal of the Rajasthan government and imposition of president's rule in the state.
