An Indian worker in Bahrain committed suicide by jumping from a pedestrian bridge near Manama's Inter Continental hotel.

Hamza Maheen, 47, apparently climbed on to the railing of the bridge over the busy King Faisal Highway and jumped into the oncoming traffic below Saturday. He fell feet first into a speeding car, injuring its occupants.

"Maheen fell into the car, shattering its windscreen, as a result of which both its occupants suffered extensive bruises and other injuries," a spokesperson of Salmaniya Medical Complex was quoted as saying in Gulf Daily News.
