The 36-hour-long gunfight between security forces and militants belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad at Aglar village in Pulwama district in central Jammu and Kashmir ended on Monday, leaving two militants dead and two soldiers, one of them a captain, injured.
The encounter began on Sunday morning as the army, along with police and the Central Reserve Police Force, laid siege around the village. Police identified one of the dead as Babar, a senior commander of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba. His accomplice gave a tough fight. “He shifted to another house and kept on firing,” said a police officer. The militant was killed on Monday morning.
