The sale of tickets for the Commonwealth Game in Gurgaon begun from Thursday.

Being sold at just one location, at the counters of an automobile-distribution agency at MG Road, the first two days witnessed reasonably good response as about 700 tickets were sold.

The sale of vouchers for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games that started on June 4 also received excellent response.

All vouchers valuing Rs 50,000 and Rs 1,000 have all been sold leaving only a few vouchers worth Rs 25,000 and Rs 5,000. Tickets for various games events are priced between Rs 50 and Rs 1,000.

“Most tickets were sold for events such as swimming, athletics and the opening ceremony,” said Himani, the co-ordinator for ticket sales.

She said tickets were sold after checking the identity card of the person.

For the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, a person can purchase two tickets on one identity card and four tickets on one identity card for the rest of the events during the sporting extravaganza.

This is the second phase of the tickets sale and will continue till September 31. The first phase of the ticket sales was from June 1 till July 31.

Anybody who wishes to purchase tickets for the Commonwealth Games has four options — CWG website, call centre, retail outlets and the venue box office.

The events are divided into morning, afternoon and evening sessions. The tickets for the men's and women's marathon and cycling (road) are for free.
