No need to sweat any more. Gurgaon will soon have an ice skating rink for those searching for pleasure and leisure to beat the scorching heat of summer.
The 15,000-square feet skating rink which is being set up on the sixth floor of the Ambiance Mall will be open for visitors in August this year.
After state-of-the-art micro-breweries, gymnasiums and water parks, the skating rink 'I-skate' will soon become a favourite destinations both for residents as well as outsiders coming to the city for leisure.
"Gurgaon residents are constantly looking for something new. We thought ice skating would be just the preferred thing due to the summer heat outside," says Ankur Bhatia, head of Bird group, the firm setting up the rink.
"The rink's location in Ambience Mall about 300m from the toll gate (on the Express Way) would draw crowd from both Delhi and Gurgaon because of its innovative concept and ideal location."
I-skate would use high-end technology and de-humidifiers to maintain proper cooling for the ice even during peak season of summer, Bhatia said, adding that a US-based group Skating Events is supervising all the technicalities of the rink.
Bhatia has also hired a team of professional trainers to guide customers at the rink.
"Ice skating is quite similar to the normal skating so popular in India. It would take a couple of hours for person who has done skating earlier to get used to moving on ice," he said.
However, beginners can also relish games such as Broom stick hockey on ice. Customers can hire special boots, skates and sticks on hourly basis.
