THE 537th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev would be celebrated at Gurudwara Nanaksar, Hamidia Road, on Sunday. The daylong programmes would commence at 7 am with the conclusion of Shri Akhand Path that has been continuing at the Gurudwara since last few days.
This would be followed by programme of devotional song by Bhai Kamaljit Singh of Ragi Jatha Shree Darbar Sahib, Amritsar between 7 am and 9 am. This would be followed by religious discourses by several personalities including Jaswinder Singh, Amarjit Singh, head Granthi Gurumej singh and Dr Jodh Singh of Patiala.
Governor, CM greet
Governor Dr Balram Jakhar, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his Cabinet colleagues, Speaker of the State Assembly and leaders of different political parties have congratulated people on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
In his message, the Governor said that Guru Nanak was born to lead the society on the right path and, rising above religion, caste and discriminatory barriers of high and low, he taught people that all of them belong to the same God.
He also preached the people to internalise teachings of all the religions and respect all the sects and religions. His teachings continue to guide all the Indians, he said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his Cabinet colleagues, Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, Deputy Speaker Hazarilal Raghuvanshi, leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi, State Congress chief Subhash Yadav, his colleagues in the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), State BJP chief Satyanarayan Jatia and State organisation general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki have also extended their greetings to people on the occasion.
