Indian Science Congress president Prof RC Sobti and Jammu University vice-chancellor Prof MP Singh Isher called on governor NN Vohra on Thursday at Raj Bhavan here and briefed him about the arrangements being made for hosting the 101st Science Congress to be held between February 3 and 7 on the university campus.
BB Vyas, principal secretary, finance and information, Shant Manu, divisional commissioner, Jammu, and Navin K Choudhary, principal secretary to governor were present on the occasion.
Prof Sobti apprised the governor that approximately 7,000 delegates from various parts of the country are likely to participate in the conference. Nobel laureates, researchers and teachers in the scientific field are likely to take part in the meeting.
He told the governor about various theme-based sessions and key speakers who would be participating in these sessions.
The governor urged the vice-chancellor to undertake a daily review of all arrangements.
BB Vyas, principal secretary to the government, finance, information and protocol departments, briefed the governor about various arrangements being made for the accommodation, transportation and security of the dignitaries and scientists attending the conference.
Shant Manu, divisional commissioner, Jammu, told about the power, drinking water, sanitation, traffic and other arrangements being made for the conference.
