Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki has laid stress on sharing scientific knowledge in regional languages or dialects for a greater connect with the masses.
Addressing at the 9th national convention of dairy engineers and national seminar on ‘Engineering interventions for global competitiveness of Indian dairy industry’ here on Monday, Solanki said it was needed that scientific advancements reach the masses with much understanding and comprehensibility.
Solanki said there was a need develop human resource development (HRD) in the livestock sector in the Indian context.“When it is widely expected that 21st century would be dominated by India at the global level, institutes like the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) get greater responsibility to work in this direction,” he said.
The function was organised jointly ICAR-NDRI and Indian Dairy Engineers Association (IDEA) on the NDRI campus.NC Patel, vice-chancellor of Anand Agriculture University, Gujarat, who was the guest of honour, stressed upon the energy efficient measures to be adopted in the dairy industry in order to compete at the international market.
He also emphasised on strengthening research and development of indigenous dairy products. He exhorted dairy engineers to focus on conservation of thermal and electrical energy, while advising them to use solar as well as bio-energy effectively.
NDRI director AK Srivastava talked about the contributions made by the institute in the ‘White Revolution’ in India. He also highlighted the NDRI’s initiatives on the extension front like dairy education at farmers’ doors and the Farmers’ Farm School.
On this occasion, the governor honoured two dairy entrepreneurs Narendra Kumar Gupta and Mahesh Chander Chawla for professional excellence in the dairy sector.
