Gwalior dominates merit list

THE RESULTS of the Pre-Engineering Test 2006 were announced today with Gwalior students taking the lion’s share in the merit list. As many as six students of Gwalior, including topper Jitendra Yadav, are placed in the top ten spots. The results were announced late on Thursday evening by the Professional Education Board (PEB).
Three students of Indore bagged spots on merit list while the remaining one spot was taken by a student from Barwaha. Jitendra Yadav of Kota Wala Mohalla, Gwalior scored 540.46 marks out of total 600 (90.07 per cent) to make it to the top of the list.
Avirishu Verma of Indore – the only female in the merit list – scored 537.23 marks (89.53 pc) to take the second place, while Nirmesh Malviya, also of Indore, took the close third spot with 537.17 (89.52 pc) marks.
The other students who have been placed on merit list include Pratyush Rathore of Barwaha (534.07 marks) – fourth, Rahul Gupta of Gwalior (528.02) – fifth, Vikrant Jaiswal of Gwalior (524.60) – sixth, Arush Dhawan of Gwalior (521.21) – seventh, Prateek Khasgiwala of Indore (521.44) – eighth, Saurabh Jain of Gwalior (518.54) – ninth and Nilesh Gupta also of Gwalior (518.35) – tenth.
The PET was conducted on June 23 and 24 in 23 cities across state. A total of 44374 students had appeared for the exams of whom 4621 were of SC category, 950 of ST category and 11859 students of OBC category. The total number of female students was 9197.
The students who have cleared the exams are eligible for admission to the BE courses in the autonomous, government granted and private engineering colleges in the state.
There are about 30000 engineering seats available in the state. The counselling schedule based on these results would be announced by the Directorate of Technical Education and would be conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya.
