Thirteen people were killed in Vietnam after a hail storm hit the northern province Quang Ninh early on Tuesday, state television said.
Several boats sunk because of heavy rain and strong wind but it was unsure whether there were people on board, the VTV news bulletin said.
Hail storms have been reported over the past few days in northern Vietnam, including in the capital Hanoi on Monday. Heavy rains have also caused serious flooding.
Local authorities could not be immediately contacted.
Quang Ninh, 200 kilometres north east of Hanoi, is famous for its world heritage site, Ha Long Bay.
