Hamirpur is abuzz with the political activities in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections due next year.
While the BJP cadres are already holding meetings to finalise the election strategy, the Congress is gearing up for the polls. Chief minister Virbhadra Singh will be in the district on a two-day visit from Sunday. It would be his second tour of the district since he took over as the chief minister.
He would address a rally at Sujanpur which is being organised by local MLA Rajendra Rana, who recently became the associate member of the Congress party.
Insiders in the Congress say that the CM's focus would be to unite the party in wake of the coming Lok Sabha elections and to win the Hamirpur seat at all costs.
On Friday, Rana visited the Chaugan ground and supervised the preparations for the Sunday rally.
Hamirpur is the home district of the senior BJP leader and former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
Dhumal's elder son, Anurag Thakur, is the BJP MP from Hamirpur.Virbhadra will hold meetings and address public rallies in four of the five assembly constituencies in the district.
Besides laying foundation stones, Singh will also inaugurate Sainik Rest House at Sujanpur and Chowki-Chhabot lift drinking water scheme constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore.
