The district Congress committee organised a meeting to take stock of preparations for the Lok Sabha elections here on Saturday.
The members decided to work hard so that they could win the seat from the present Hamirpur MP, Anurag Thakur, of the BJP and to ensure the return of the party government into power at the Centre.
The meeting was chaired by new district president of the party Naresh Thakur. Sunil Sharma, former DCC chief, who has been elevated as general secretary of the state Congress party was also present in the meeting.
Earlier, the party workers honoured the new president by presenting him a cap and a shawl and expressed optimism that under his leadership, the party would progress a lot. The new party chief assured party workers that he would work to strengthen the organisation in the district and ensure ouster of BJP from district politics.
