Kandasamy takes over as new DG (roads)
C Kandasamy has taken over as the new director general (roads) in the road transport ministry, ending the bitter politics over the top post. RP Indoria, the incumbent DG resigned last week after Kandasamy’s promotion. Indoria was made ADG (roads) in 2010 and was subsequently given the additional charge of DG (roads) despite being junior to Kandasamy. The latter was repeatedly denied a promotion after he fell out with the then road minister TR Baalu and adverse remarks were made in his ACR by the then road secretary Brahm Dutt. It was only when CP Joshi took over as the road minister in January last year that Kandaswamy’s case was taken up again and a decision taken in his favour.
