New norms for NHAI chief's post
The road transport and highways ministry has included new norms to rule out "conflict of interest" for NHAI chairman's post, once their term gets over. The DoPT - where the ministry had sent the proposal to finalise the terms for appointing the chairman - had flagged the issue. According to the new norms, a person selected "Be it from government, PSU or corporate sector" will have to give an undertaking of not taking up new assignment/-employment in any organisation having dealing with NHAI for a period of two years after his term expires.

NCR planning board becomes high profile
The NCR planning board, set up for promoting regional development is suddenly in the news. Courtesy, the Noida Extension fiasco where over 6,000 buyers were left in the lurch after the project got mired in dispute.

The Allahabad HC on October 21 directed UP government to get the Greater Noida Master Plan 2021 approved by the NCRPB before any construction begins. The situation in Noida Extension would not have come, had the NCRPB been more diligent and taken note of the development activity that was going on without its approval.

HRD website misleads students
The department of higher education under the ministry of HRD seems to be doing quite opposite to what it is supposed to do - prevent students from going to unauthorised institutions. A website page talking about the National Accreditation Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) gives the council URL as naacindia.org. The URL takes you to a window showcasing many unknown educational institutions. Hope at-least by the next admissions season, the department babus wake up to change it to naac.gov.in the official website of NAAC.
