Farooq Mhapkar, accused in the 1993 Hari Masjid rioting case in Mumbai, was on Wednesday acquitted by a sessions court.

Mhapkar was acquitted after the court observed that the prosecution has failed to prove its case.

Seven persons were killed inside Hari Masjid in south Mumbai when police opened fire on January 10, 1993.
