Harman Baweja is on a signing spree. The buzz is that even without a release to his credit, the new kid on the block has snapped up a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films.
When quizzed on the subject, Baweja denies the rumours. "I don't know anything about this," he says rather abruptly. Prod him further and he requests that we talk instead about the films he has signed.
He's in Jaiselmer shooting for Ajit Pal's Victory that also features Amrita Rao and Anupam Kher. The story revolves around a small town boy from the desert state who wants to be the best cricketer in the country.
The producers are apparently trying to rope in some members of the Indian XI. So Baweja could well have Dhoni (Mahendra Singh), Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) and Dada (Sourav Ganguly) for company.
His debut movie, Love Story 2050, being directed by his father Harry Baweja was launched with much fanfare a year ago. It was in the news for Kareena Kapoor's exit and Priyanka Chopra's entry. Then.. zilch.
What's happening on that front?
"We completed the shooting three months ago. My father's busy with the post-production," he informs.
A futuristic thriller, Love Story 2050 is loaded with SFX.
"That's why it's taken a while. Six different studios are working on the special effects. We intend to release the film sometime in May-June 2008," he concludes.
