In yet another case of suspected honour killing — the third in the past month in Haryana — the bodies of a young couple were found hanging from a tree in the fields of their native village Siwana in Jhajjar district on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Sandeep, who is in his early twenties, and Monica, who is believed to be around 15 years old.

The police sent the bodies to the PGIMS at Rohtak to ascertain the cause of death.

According to reports, Monica’s father Ram Kumar had lodged a complaint at the Beri police station on August 5 alleging that his daughter — a student class IX — had been mising for four days. He claimed she had been lured by Sandeep, resident of the same village. The police had registered a case of abduction.

On Sunday, the two were found hanging from a tree. While Sandeep’s body bore several injury marks, Monica had marks on her feet and legs.
