The executive committee members of Haryana Secretariat Service Officers' Association on Wednesday decided to take up the issue of re-employment of retired officer with the state government.
The committee, which held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the issue of re-employment of retired officers, resolved that post-retirement employment of officials should be done away with to ensure that cadre officers do not suffer.
Association president Ramesh Gaba in a statement issued here said that the committee noted that the greed to remain in job even after retirement for financial benefits and other privileges was spreading fast.
"Every officer on attaining superannuation was seeking re-employment using political pressure or other tactics. The retired officials do not even take into the account the fact that such acts have become an impediment in the career advancement of their colleagues. Thus, eligible officers not only suffer financial loss but also gets demoralised," the statement said.
The committee noted that this was leading to strained relations between the cadre and retired officers.
"The association strongly condemns the move to re-employ retired officers. An appeal may be made to the retired officers to quit the office immediately. We also appeal families of retired officers to counsel them to quit these post-retirement jobs," Gaba said.
The association said that they would be constrained to take necessary steps to safeguard the interests of its members if better sense did not prevail.
