A joint registrar of the Delhi high court on Friday recused himself from hearing a civil defamation case filed by senior advocate Ram Jethmalani against BJP parliamentary board members over his expulsion from the party in May.
Joint Registrar Girish Katpalia recused himself from hearing the case saying: “because of my good relations with some of them, I cannot hear this matter.” Jethmalani contended that the board took the decision without giving him an opportunity to defend himself. Jethmalani has demanded Rs 50 lakh in damages from the board members, barring Narendra Modi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The matter will come up for hearing on October 28 before another court.
