THE LUCKNOW Bench of Allahabad High Court on Monday directed the Nagar Nigam authorities to produce complete scheme with regard to beautification of the Gomti riverbank along with the availability of the budget in this regard, in the court on September 6 next.
Justices Jagdish Bhalla and DV Sharma passed the above orders on a PIL filed against alleged removal of Shri Aadi Batuk Bhairavji temple, Ayush Dham dispensary and its adjoining garden of medicinal herbs and trees by the district administration in the name of expansion of the Laxman Mela Ground towards east of the Nishatganj bridge.
The Public Interest Litigation was filed by Rajesh Kumar Bali, general secretary of the Ayush Dham Society in which the State along with the Nagar Nigam, the Lucknow Development Authority, the DM and the SSP, Lucknow have been arrayed as respondents.
The Nagar Nigam anti-encroachment squad had come on August 22 to remove the temple etc. But due to strong opposition from the devotees they could not succeed, it was said.
Omkara hearing on Sept 11
The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday fixed September 11 next for further hearing of a petition seeking a ban on Ajay Devgan-Saif Ali Khan starrer 'Omkara' for its "abusive" language.
The petition was filed in the Lucknow Bench of the court on August 31 by a local lawyer.
