A PUBLIC Interest Litigation (PIL) questioning the validity of appointment of administrative officers beyond sanctioned strength came up for hearing before a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Jagdish Bhalla and Justice DV Sharma, here on Wednesday.
The Bench while fixing August 21 next for hearing has called upon the state of UP to explain as to under what authority of law this was being done.
It was urged on behalf of the petitioner, a local journalist, that against 12 sanctioned posts of principal secretaries, 46 principal secretaries had been appointed.
Similarly, against 26 sanctioned posts of secretaries, 64 secretaries had been appointed.
The petitioner has prayed for removal of the excess appointees besides setting up a commission to have effective control on the IAS officers.
