The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed the 'brain-mapping' test ordered by the trial court on Sahil Zaroo, the alleged supplier of drugs to Rahul Mahajan, son of slain BJP leader Promod Mahajan in the infamous drug snorting case.
Justice BD Ahmed granted the stay after counsel for Zaroo, Manoj Taneja argued that the test ordered on his client was illegal and an invasion of an individual's privacy.
The court while staying the trial judge's order, dated June 29, posted the matter for further hearing to the third week of August.
The High Court had earlier this week granted a similar stay on the brain-mapping test ordered against Rahul Mahajan.
A trial court had on June 29 granted permission to Delhi police to conduct brain-mapping tests against Rahul Mahajan and Sahil Zaroo to elicit more information on the drug snorting case in which the slain BJP leader's personal secretary Bibek Moitra died.
According to the prosecution, it was Sahil Zaroo who supplied the alleged cocaine to Rahul and Moitra.
The prosecution had moved the trial court seeking permission for conducting a brain-mapping test against the duo on the ground that the two were not divulging proper information on the episode.
