HC to hear case against Sonia's election to Lok Sabha on Nov 9

india Updated: Oct 15, 2009 21:30 IST

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Thursday fixed November 9 as next date of hearing of a petition filed against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, challenging her election as Member of Parliament from Raebareli constituency.

The court also asked the union home secretary to file reply in this regard.

Justice Alok Kumar Singh passed this order while hearing the petition filed by one Rakesh Sing of Raebareli.

The petition has challenged the election of Sonia saying the Congress leader had not got naturalisation certificate which is required for those who get country's citizenship by registration and participate in political activities under the Indian Citizenship Act 1955.
