HCS exams: HPSC declares 468 successful in mains

Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) on Tuesday announced that 468 candidates have qualified the mains examination of HCS (Executive branch) and allied services-2011. There are 151 posts of HCS and allied services officers which will be filled up after the completion of interviews. The result can be viewed on websites http://hpsc.gov.in and www.hpsconline.in.
HPSC chairman, Manbir Bhadana told HT that viva voce/personality test of the successful candidates will be tentatively held from September 24.
“We plan to interview 25 candidates per day. The interviews will be conducted six days a week excluding Sunday and a gazette holidays,’’ Bhadana said.
As per the result of the mains examination declared on Tuesday, 300 candidates from the general category, 89 from the scheduled caste category, 43 from the backward classes category, 24 from the ex-servicemen category, 6 candidates each from the physically handicapped (ortho) and hearing impaired categories have made it to the viva voce test.
In January 2013, a total of 3,244 candidates including 835 fresh candidates were declared qualified for the mains written examinations by the Commission after results of the preliminary examination was revised on the direction of Punjab and Haryana high court.
The high court had in December 2012 directed the HPSC to constitute a committee of experts to look into the issue of wrong questions and answer key of the preliminary examination of HCS (executive branch) and other allied services. The experts committee was asked to consider representations of the candidates. Hindustan Times in a series of news reports in 2012 had exclusively highlighted the discrepancies in the question papers of HCS preliminary examination.
