Asha Dewedi, the wife of rape accused BSP, MLA, Purushottam Naresh Dewedi on Thursday raised question over the character of Banda rape victim who was allegedly raped by Dewedi and his associates. She declared that her husband was sexually inactive.

"The resident of Shahbazpur, Harnampur and Lacchapurwa villages where rape victim stayed earlier are well aware of the character of rape victim. She was kidnapped and raped in Harnampur and Lacchapurwa villages too", she said

"The medical examination of rape victim conducted by the district hospital doctors has given clean chit to my husband as no evidence of rape was detected by the doctors" Asha said and added "the police should also interrogate Rajju Patel and constable Ajay posted at Khora police outpost in Madhya Pradesh in the case", she said.

"I will meet chief minister Mayawati to tell her that my husband had been implicated in the rape case under a conspiracy hatched by his opponents. If my husband does not gets justice I will commit suicide", Asha said.

Talking to the journalists at her Park Road residence here, Asha Dewedi said her husband was physically incapable of committing rape. "The age of my husband is above 50 years, he is down with diabetes and blood pressure. Even one of his kidneys has failed". "As wife of Purushottam Naresh Dewedi I can say that he is incapable of making relationship’, she said.

Though the CB-CID in its probe report submitted to the state government has stated that the Banda police implicated rape victim in false theft. Yet Asha said while escaping from her house at Attara town in Banda district Sheelu carried away the mobile of her husband, cash and other valuables.

Mayank Dewedi, son of the MLA was also present in the press conference. He said the charge of rape against his father was fallout of political rivalry.

“Along with the leader of opposition political parties, the leader of ruling BSP are also involved in hatching conspiracy against my father. The ticket of my father was finalized on December 16 by the BSP leadership to contest from Banda assembly seat for 2012 assembly election. Soon the opposition leaders as well as those in BSP vying for the ticket launched a tirade against my father accusing him of raping a minor girl”, he said.

Raising demand of medical examination of her husband and DNA test Asha Dewedi said rape victim was given shelter in the gallery located between the two rooms in her house. While she along with her husband lived in a room, her son and daughter-in- law occupied the adjacent room. “How can a person rape a girl in the presence of the family members?” she said.

She further said during CB-CID misbehaved with the family members and charges against the MLA are baseless. “The calls made by rape victim from the mobile number 9415607499 and 9956100599 should be also investigated. When the cops nabbed her at Tura village she made no charge of rape against my husband. Instead rape victim charged her father Acheylal of misbehaving with her”, she said.

Asked if she helped rape victim to escape from house Asha Dewedi said neither she nor her daughter- in-law helped rape victim in escaping.
