Almost coming to the end of his deposition before the sessions court of special judge GA Sanap, David Coleman Headley, the Pakistani-born American LeT operative, told the court that he had visited Pune and conducted a reconnaissance of the Indian Army Southern Command Headquarters in Pune.

Headley’s claim can be corroborated through arrested Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI) commander Sheikh Abdul Khwaja alias Amjad who had given out details of the plot planned by ISI officers to conduct Pune blasts. Khwaja was arrested in January 2010.

Khwaja had told his investigators that a certain Colonel Ahmed of the ISI had met him while he was staying with Syed Abdul Rahman Hussain alias Abdul Aziz alias Bada Sajid at the latter’s Karachi residence in Gulisthan-e-Johar. The army officer carried a laptop with reconnaissance videos of various spots in Pune, and had asked Khwaja to carry out the blast. The army officer was told Khwaja that David Coleman Headley had conducted the reconnaissance and the videos were part of his reconnaissance.
